Alai Payuthey - The Waves Are Pouncing !

This was written in the mid of April, due to public demand. We were returning from seeing the film Alai Payuthey on the first day it released, when Madhavan jokingly suggested why dont I write a review of that. This was inspiration enough for me to write this poem that night itself.

ALAI PAYUTHEY - THE WAVES ARE POUNCING

Waves are pouncing
Was a movie piercing
One's heart
Making it split apart

It's about 2 radical lovers
Not exchanging flowers
Not dancing on top of towers
Not having extraordinary powers

But something more day-to-day
Making some pray
Before the start of the movie
That it won't be boring, but seeing sophie

In the poster
Decided to plaster
The movie as just 'another' gory
Love story

But they were to be proved wrong
By the strong
Camera wielded by P.C.Sriram
Much better than that in Hey-Ram

He literally painted
The film-not just tainted
The screen
With the lush green

And the various other colours
Which lures
One into the film
When the direction diverges into a different realm.

Shalini, the actress
Proved she was not one
To wear a hand-kerchief dress
And so it was borne

By sophie who posed
In a song, which was the only toast
For those who appreciate glamour,
Which was her armour.

The skirmishes between the young couple
Was indeed beautiful to watch
And the emotions brouught out will not topple
The career of the actress and actor, who is indeed a catch

According to madhavan
Who has become an instant fan
Of the actor
Because of the name factor

Maniratnam was the biggest flop
Though PCS made the film hop
Along with his amazing
Photography, tantalising

Everybody while mani
Wasted the funny
Vivek as well as Arvind Swamy and Kushboo.
The latter two

Unpaid guest roles
Were included when any fools
Could have done them well
In which the director again fell.

Altogether,
Mani brother
Was not the usual 'ratnam'
But a begger with a 'pathram'

The direction was good
But not worth 3 sardar food
Which azza made full use of
By refunding the $8 thereof

Getting every cent
As the 3 hrs spent
Was not worth it
And seeing his fit

Body and his valid reason
That the a/c was not switched on
Even though in this season
Nobody will sweat, son.

The best comedy
Was from the daddy
Of the hero
Who was not a complete zero

Though not a master of zorro
He did bring out the sorrow
Very well
But again, Mr.mani didnt dwell

The ending fairly
And so the message was entirely
Messed up with the audience
In true sense

Were leaving expecting,
Atleast something,
In his next film venture
Though at present he may need some tincture

Because of this film though.
I must bow
To him for a film without any fight
Which was good insight

As it was unnecessary
And helped to carry
A message that fights may not be there
For one to make a fair

Movie like this one
With which I am done
With the review
Of a film worth a view.
