Exams

This is a poem written when I had nothing to do but study as my semester exams were close enough.

EXAM

Examination
Is one of the biggest troublemakers
In a nation
Where the number of takers

Is shocking
Even in one's imagination
Everybody is seen talking
In all the places, including those for recreation

About the Dalton's theory of evolution
And trying to find out the solution
To the worst question,
Trying to attain the highest position

In their school or college
Though they might feel they learn much more than required for their age
Feeling they have too much a page
In their textbook, the journey through which is their pilgrimage

They are all the same
Trying to attain fame
Some ending up in shame
Others living up to their name

This is not the criteria
To judge a person
But trying to find an alternative, one might go into a hysteria
So, it remains a curse on

The student population
Hailing from the remotest of location
Across the globe, cutting across every barrier
Every fellow hoping to build a carreer, becoming a carrier

Of the hopes of their parents, teachers
And all other well-wishers
Will they attain glory?
Will they end up under the wheel of a lorry?

For all you know, the biggest category of people who decide
To commit suicide
Is the student
Which makes everyone repent

That the substantial
Young potential
Goes to waste
Which is a distaste

So, every student must see the fact
And not act
In a stupid way or behave
In a manner that will lead them straight to their grave

But learn to apply
The Economic theory of demand and supply
And other relevent things they learnt
After a large amount of midnight oil is burnt

To their life
To come out of their strife
And rise and shine
Like gas on opening a bottle of coke or wine

Putting hard things behind
And work harder to find
What they are good at and what they like,
Not which girl to chase in their bike,

But things that can bring them up
In life, which can be a dust storm in a tea cup
Or a hidden treasure
Which you will find if you can handle the pressure

Of working without a stop
To come to the top
In your field
And then you can weild

The sword of success
But then also, one shouldn't take a recess
As this is a cruel world
If you take a rest you will be hurled

Down, like Bill Gates
So, there is a lot of stakes
And you have to work even harder
To retain what you achieved, otherwise be prepared to come down the ladder

So, what I want to convey
Is that work hard from right now
To achieve what you wanna be, so that you dont become a prey
To the vulture of fate and bow

But stand tall
Even when you fall
Cos life is like a coin with success and failure
And the same side doesnt fall always, you can be sure.
